1 pork butt or pork shoulder roast, 4-5 lbs.
1 tsp. black pepper
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 onion, choppedĀ
1 cup apple ciderĀ
1 large apple, cored and chopped
Unwrap pork and place roast onto a sheet of foil or parchment paper. Combine pepper with pumpkin pie spice and rub all over pork roast using your fingers. Meanwhile, in a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat 1-2 Tbs. oil over medium high heat; when oil is hot, add seasoned pork and brown quickly on both sides. Remove pork to a greased slow cooker; top pork with onions, then pour apple cider over the top of all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover slow cooker with lid; cook pork on high for 5-6 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.
